Kale

Hey everybody! Myself and my partner are apart of the Northern Learning Centre. In our class the teach us about project based learning. We are reaching out to the public to help us with find expertise about the plant kale. We are making a greenhouse and are growing plants for the school, and me and my partner need help about our plant so we can successfully give out our delicious vegetable kale. This is what we already know.

Dates And Timeline
The kale was planted on March.15,2013 and it can be planted independently on May.18,2013.
It needs to be 8 inches apart from each other. In 12 weeks the kale’s smaller leaves can be harvested. In 14 weeks u can take the sprouts and bulbs of the kale.

Keeping The Plant Alive
They need to spread apart at least 8 inches apart so the roots don't intertwine. Make sure small pests like aphids don't get into the plant. It helps to have some predatory insects to eat all the pests like ants, worms and aphids the best predator bugs are spiders, ladybugs and centipedes. Make sure the sunlight is balanced with the shade so it doesn't absorb too much light

Water
My plant needs to be constantly watered its soil must always be moist. To make sure the plant is fully fresh and gets its full flavour generously put water on the bulb of the plant. Kale doesn't usually grow well in a greenhouse because a greenhouse keeps a lot of heat or keeps it cold but it needs lots of sunlight and heat and a few hours of colder temperatures so the water can soak and keep it constantly moist.

Soil growing conditions
-Wet moist
-Clean - no bugs living in soil
-freshly rotated
Container
-one per 8” by 6" inside the greenhouse
-biodegradable
- lots of space light colour so sun doesn't get attracted to it
Start
-Seed in soil
-water it and keep in damp cool area
-Maintain it keep cool some sun not lots and watter 3 sprays 3 times a day

Please give us feedback about our vegetable. Thank you.

  2. It sure is man. Can you tell us (your readers) more about it? We'd love to see a video of the buggy, or some pictures.
